To play is essential for children, especially since a number of studies have shown that children play less, are outdoors less and are less healthy than previous generations. For the child, play is life at its best! Play contributes to the child’s growth in addition of providing the ideal backdrop for self-discovery and for discovering the world. It helps the child develop as he or she, at play, learns to change and adapt his or her own game.
So here is why we offer you today 4 tricks to help you to get your children out to play !
TRICK #1 : Change some of your perceptions or fears, particularly with respect to safety and your own outlook on physical activity that may be obstacles to your children’s outdoor and unstructured play.
TRICK #2 : Be a model of active living for your children by practising a sport on a regular basis, for example by joining an outdoor sport team league.
TRICK #3 : Organize your schedule to give your children time for unstructured play and learning activities through play, discovery and experimentation.
TRICK #4 : Praise your children and endorse their good decisions; they will be more inclined to be active and increase the level of their physical activity.
